Capturing the essence and beauty of a newborn can be a challenging task. Besides the blotchy skin, irritable and unpredictable moods, newborns can still surprise us with an innocence and delicacy that makes our hearts melt. To really get a sense of this tiny beauty, I had to capture her beautiful blue eyes open. Not an easy task to ask from a 3 week. Her eyes give us a glimpse into who she is, and will become.
For the sleepy shot below, I chose to soften the colouring. The subtle moss greens and yellows were desaturated and bring out the dreamy, wispy feeling of little babies sleeping peacefully. Shots like this evoke memories, life reflection and family narratives handed down by generation. We gaze at our children and up bubbles the memories of our own childhood.
